CMC SpringBoard fundraiser at new location

Friday, April 13, 6:30-9pm
Working Food, 219 NW 10th Ave.

Save the date: on Friday April 13, the Civic Media Center will be holding the 2018 version of its SpringBoard fundraiser. This event is timed to give the CMC a boost as the summer approaches, with its higher utility costs and diminished population in town.

This year the event will be held at a new and exciting location, Working Food at 219 NW 10th Ave. This large meeting hall (and large parking lot) is one of three new additions in the block of NW 10th Ave., joined by the restaurant Afternoon and Cypress & Grove Brewing. The event will run from 6:30 to 9pm.

The evening will feature great tapas and finger food from various restaurants and individuals, time for socializing, and an informal and entertaining panel discussion on issues regarding issues around rivers and springs featuring Lars Andersen and Merrillee Malwitz-Jipson.

Lars Andersen is the owner of Adventure Outpost in High Springs and a longtime environmental activist, tour guide and advocate for health and preservation of our rivers and springs. He has been speaking about and educating about our rivers and springs for decades.

Merrillee Malwitz-Jipson has lived in Florida since 1975 and is a dedicated volunteer working to protect the springs, rivers and other waters of Florida. Merrillee participates in numerous committees, advisory boards and consultant groups. She owns and operates Rum 138 with her husband and she is an Organizing Representative for Sierra Club, Florida.

There will, of course, be some silent auction items and raffle items as well. A donation of $25-$50 is requested as the CMC moves into the summer and then the fall, which in October will see its 25th anniversary celebration.

Come meet the CMC Coordinators, volunteers, Board members and all the many supporters of the CMC, who make up an array of the best progressive folks in Alachua County.

If you cannot make it but still wish to donate please do, either from Paypal (at www.civicmediacenter.org) or by mail to 433 S. Main St., Gainesville, FL 32601. Advance tickets can be purchased the same way. D
